The topic for Top Ten Tuesday this week is “Reasons Why I Love Romance”. You can find the host of top ten Tuesday here. With this topic I could’ve picked anything that I wanted to talk about but I chose the genre of Romance because I’ve been reading tons of it. It’s also been on my mind because I’ve been trying to date for a while on dating apps. Anyway, these are just some of the reasons why I love reading Romance.
- The escapism: I love being able to get drawn into a story and escape from my life into someone else’s for a bit.
- The perspectives: Their thoughts when they meet the love interest and hearing them fall in love is just so interesting to me.
- The slight predictability: Many of them follow the same arcs of before they fall in love, when they fall for eachother, being in love, a conflict occurs, and then they get back together. They’re easy to read and I know that I’m going to enjoy whatever book I read.
- Love is universal: Everyone has felt love for someone else and so it’s something that we can all relate which is different from most other genres.
- There’s an abundance of stories: So many authors and publishers pump them out constantly so you never run out of books to read.
- The titles: Specifically the ones with puns or that are unique/catchy, for example: Let’s Get Textual by Teagan Hunter and Get a Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert
- The covers: Whether they have halfnaked people, unattainably attractive people, or drawn/animated people, I love them, I think they’re fun!
- They’re quick: I can literally read them in one sitting no matter how long they are. Last week I read 5 romance novels in one day, the time just went by so fast and I couldn’t stop downloading them on Kindle Unlimited.
- Happy Endings: They make me feel more optimistic about the world.
- The romance (obviously): I love to swoon and I just love love!
