The topic for Top Ten Tuesday this week is “Books I Bought Because…”. You can find the host of top ten tuesday here. Typically I buy books because I saw a good review online or because the summary seems interesting but every once in a while I do buy books for random reasons. This is the list of those books in no particular order.
A Book I Bought Because…
- I heard the author speak at the National Book Festival: Gorgeous by Paul Rudnick
- There was a signed copy available at my local bookstore: The Last True Love Story by Brendan Kiely
- I read it at the Library first and decided I needed to own it so I could read it over and over again (which I actually ended rereading many times so I definitely got my money’s worth): Alex, Approximately by Jenn Bennett
- The title spoke to me: The Places I’ve Cried in Public by Holly Burke
- I wanted to learn Spanish: En el Tiempo de las Mariposas by Julia Alvarez and Bajo la Misma Estrella by John Green
- Even though I hated the first book that I read by the same author: Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
- I really liked the cover: Emergency Contact by Mary HK Choi
- I wanted the full set: The Beautiful Creatures Series by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl
- It was related to a class I was taking at the time: American Horror Story and Philosophy by Richard Greene and Rachel Robison-Greene
- I was in a book club: Circe by Madeline Miller
