On my last day and in my last hour of being 18, here are 18 things that I have learned being 18:
- It is okay to enjoy being around other people, you do not always have to be alone.
- Building and maintaining friendships is just as important as building a relationship with yourself.
- Your Found Family can become just as beneficial and important as your biological family.
- Your body is your own and while you can do whatever you want to it; eating healthy foods and exercising is not the worst thing in the world.
- Just because you disagree with someone does not mean that you have to cut them out of your life forever.
- Not knowing where your life will go is perfectly fine.
- If you have to be drunk or high to enjoy something, then you should not be there.
- You cannot change everyone or everything around you and sometimes things just have to suck once in a while.
- It is better to live with friends than with strangers.
- Make time for yourself.
- Don’t second guess everything you say.
- The best people are the ones who laugh at your jokes and vice versa.
- You can leave your childhood behind you.
- Feeling satisfied and single is a valid way to live.
- You may feel lonely but you are never alone.
- It is too early in your life to be so pessimistic.
- Being ambitious and being loved are not mutually exclusive.
- As long as you are happy with yourself, nothing else matters.
